Do the external sources you depend upon to make you feel good actually make you feel good? Or are they just temporary distractions that provide temporary relief from not being as happy as everyone else seems to be?
For example, when you finally get the new car you’ve always wanted are you worried about having enough money to make the monthly payments? And what if it’s not about the money? Do you freak out when it gets a ding or a scratch? If so, does the new car really make you feel good? How happy are you really?
People who rely upon someone or something outside of themselves for their happiness don’t understand what it’s like to have real happiness from the inside out. They have to have one more of these and another one of those to have the illusion of happiness.
Real happiness is not having what you want it’s wanting what you already have…and that is YOU!
