An Appreciation of Good With Me – From a Friend…

I rarely do this, but sometimes expressing your appreciation publicly is a good thing. When you know something really works, you just have to share it.

I’ve been a friend of Patricia Noll for nearly 2 years now. Not only do I respect her as an author (I’m one myself), but her charm and insights to being a happy person has helped hundreds of people around the world including myself. She understands the deeper meaning of what being really happy is and how to attain it. Not just temporarily, but for good.

Too many of us rely on things outside of ourselves for the sense of happiness: acceptance by others, what the ‘boss’ thinks of us, our parent’s expectations and even how we look in the mirror. When those things don’t turn out like we’d planned (do they ever?), we then turn to other outside influences to mask the pain: alcohol, drugs, video games… you name it. For many of us, we look for relationships with people who will ‘fill a void’ in what we believe is missing. When we look outside of ourselves for happiness, one rarely finds it. The world and the people in it are not responsible for your well being – it’s not designed that way. Everything you need to truly be happy resides within you.

imagesYou have the ultimate power. Your dreams, your health and your own expectations of what you want to accomplish are the keys to feeling content. No one can take those away from you. When you know you’re on the right path and feel good about the choices you make, you take the reins of your future. No one really knows what goes on inside of your head unless you let them in. And no one understands the little things that make you feel happy: a sunny day, a new career choice, meeting a new friend or even your own private daydreams. You own these things and they dictate how you will feel from here into the future.

This is what Good With Me is all about. Self-confidence is really about “self”, not others and their opinions, judgements and expectations. They don’t really know you that well after all, so why is your ball ever in their court? I’ve learned so much from reading Good With Me and I’ve let Patricia know. It can take you step-by-step towards tearing down that negative thinking that rarely serves you. It grants you the ultimate permission to know and love yourself for who you are. Knowing that I’m really in charge of my happiness is one of the most liberating things that has ever happened to me. I welcome that gift. It gives me the freedom to make the world exactly how I want it to be.

Be honest – when’s the last time you really felt that free? The time is now to stand tall…

Thank you Patricia for everything. I’ll talk to you soon from my happy place.

– Colin Martin
