The Continuous Loop Of Thoughts…

We have already established that our reality is determined by our thinking. But did you know that a single thought, good or bad, can set up a continuous loop of thinking, feeling, and behaving?

self esteem tips expert patricia nollThe loop works this way. It starts with a single thought about someone or something. As a result of the thought, a feeling is formed to correspond with the thought. This feeling then determines your behavior toward that someone or something. Your behavior toward that someone or something then triggers another thought that is influenced by the way you behaved.

This thought about your behavior then produces another feeling, and this feeling leads to another behavior. This new behavior influences yet another thought, which creates yet another feeling that leads to yet another behavior, and the loop continues on without end.

This same thinking, feeling, behaving loop can be applied to yourself in the same manner. You have a thought about yourself which produces a feeling about yourself. The way you feel about yourself leads to your choice of behavior. Your choice of behavior influences the next thought you have about yourself, which creates another feeling about yourself, which leads to more behavior, which influences another thought about yourself, which forms another feeling about yourself, which in turn leads to another behavior, and the loop continues on without end.

This loop of bad thoughts leading to bad feelings leading to bad behaviors is a continuous loop of “doom and gloom” unless you do something to change it. The catch is you can’t do anything to change it until you become aware that it is happening. Remember, neither feelings nor behaviors occur by accident, even when it may seem as though they do.
